Jean shorts get a bad rap for being touristy or unchic, despite being a major player in America's summer wardrobes. But Tori Spelling and Nicky Hilton show that the shorts can be casually stylish. These cut offs are both the Heartloom Delancey Daisy short.

The trick to jean shorts is to make sure you have the body for them, you wear them where it's appopriate (the beach or mall - not dinner or an event), and they hit you at a flattering point (just like a skirt).

While the Heartloom shorts aren't available on the Web, it's easy to DIY a pair of cut off shorts or check out the selection at Free People. Since it's easy for jean shorts to look cheap, I'd stay away from bargain retailers.

Sure, we usually see Audrina Patridge and The Hills gang shopping at posh boutiques and in designer duds on the red carpet. But clearly there's an Old Navy somewhere in The Hills because both stars are sporting the mass retailer's summer styles.

If you've been trying to wear in your new t-shirts to that slouchy, sun-faded perfection ever since you bought them last spring, you might want to pay attention. ASTARS, which counts Audrina Patridge, Sandra Bullock, Whitney Port and Taylor Momsen as fans, is launching their line of basic essential tops on their Web site today. ASTARS uses micro-modal and hemp fabric plus mineral treatments and double softener produce a vintage look and feel. The shirts range from $62 to $68.

If I could have Alexa Chung's legs and Whitney Port's hair, I would die happy. And wear tights with docs every day! Once you've stopped drooling over this fashionable pair's style, you'll realize this is actually a really cool interview. Chung asks great questions on a variety of topics from Speidi to shopping. On fashion, Port says "I appreciate the style so much more in New York. It's much more easy going in L.A., you can get away with t-shirts and jeans every day. Here you kind of care a little bit more." Her favorite places to shop in New York are Opening Ceremony, Urban Outfitters and Topshop. Which just goes to show how much clothing she is gifted or lent because I feel like we rarely see her in lines from these stores.

Just today a friend's Facebook status called for feedback on whether or not to buck blonde tradition and go brunette for the summer. Popular opinion seemed to be for the change, and since it's worked so well for Kate Hudson, I think I'll have to agree! Now if only it was as easy as a dye job to get her smokin' bod in that hot black and white dress!
