Star Style

Lauren Conrad.jpg
As if watching 500 Days of Summer on DVD didn't have me craving cute dresses and hair bows enough. Lauren Conrad's adorable Nanette Lepore dress has me wishing for warmer weather instead of more forecasts of snow.

Conrad stylishly pairs the print with dark tights and black Christian Louboutin pumps. She could easily slip on a cashmere cardigan if she was indeed in the wintry northeast. I love when an outfit so seamlessly can transition from one season to another.

I'm not usually a fan of Conrad, but she really looks the part of a chic young author as she promotes her new book Sweet Little Lies.

Nanette Lepore dresses are available at Nordstrom.

Despite the fun and sophistication of wearing artfully shaded eye shadow and a perfectly applied face, less is often more when it comes to everyday makeup and hair. Especially if you want to look more mature. The Jersey Shore star might not look super hot and fashionable in the pantsuit they put her in, but the Grecian Marchesa dress looks great!

Nina Vampire diaries.jpg
I really love this outfit Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev wore to the Armani Exchange/Nylon Magazine February Launch Party. The fun A|X pleated mini skirt is in great proportion to her petite frame, and the print looks terrific and adds lots of interest. I might not usually suggest pairing such a bright print with a sequined top, but here I really think the whole thing works. Get the skirt at ArmaniExchange.com.

Grammy's Miley Cyrus hair.jpg
Miley Cyrus looked pretty rock and roll at the Grammy Awards Sunday in a Herve Leger mini dress and flowy rock star hair.

Omar Lopez, celebrity stylist and creative director for Sultra styling irons tells us how to recreate the look. He recommends the Sultra creative styling iron, $255 at Sephora, because of its convex and concave plates to help create the perfect wave. But of course you can try it with whatever straightening/styling iron you have at home, too.

"First, take a one inch section of hair and gently clamp down between the plates," he said. "Next, rotate iron half a turn downward as you slowly glide through 1/3 of the hair. Keeping the plates closed, turn the iron one full turn upward and continue gliding through the next 1/3 of the hair."

Turn the iron another full turn downward to finish the section, turning under at the ends.

"Repeat on each section to create sexy, sultry waves!" Lopez said.

Obviously, Miley is probably wearing extensions at this event, or has grown her hair really really long, so just adjust how many waves you try to incorporate into each section based on your own hair length. This look is definitely best for longer-than-shoulder-length hair.

Taylor Swift Grammys collage.jpg
This is sort of a battle between Swift's comfy "she wears short skirts I wear T-shirts" country tomboy side and her more glamorous red carpet persona. At left she's wearing jeans and a tunic to perform at the Grammy's with Stevie Nicks, while on the right she's shown on the red carpet wearing a glittery gown by Kaufman Franco. Which look do you prefer?

Jayde Nicole circles necklace.jpg

Guess we won't be seeing anymore of Jayde Nicole on The Hills now that she's broken up with Brody Jenner, but rumor has it she's headed for her own reality series. How else is she showing off her individuality? With a Leslie Greene Alloro circular necklace, $1,395. Now if that's a little too much for someone without Hills cash, there are some affordable alternatives after the jump.
Fergie's cole haan clutch.jpg

Fergie kept her all black ensemble for hubby Josh Duhamel's When In Rome premiere interesting with texture and silhouette. And what bag did she stash her red carpet essentials in? Cole Haan's black patent Tiana clutch with metallic stitching detail, on sale for $145 on Endless.
Amanda Seyfried Channing Tatum.jpg
I love Amanda Seyfried from her Veronica Mars days, plus I felt she totally stole Jennifer's Body from Megan Fox. She's still coming into her own fashion sense (aren't we all?) and red carpet style. This look with Dear John costar Channing Tatum is really cute.

The purple really makes her eyes and hair pop, and is in great contrast with the printed top. She looks so much more put-together and professional than a lot of starlets out there. Plus, she's got the casual side braid trend down. It's a great look for her.

Katrina Bowden.jpg
As Cerie on 30 Rock, Katrina Bowden helps the wacky staff stay in touch with youth culture. On the SAG red carpet, however, the 22-year-old gets in touch with a very grown up beauty look.

mark celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg created the look for Bowden, and tells us how she did it.

"I started by prepping Katrina's face with mark For Goodness Face Antioxidant Skin Moisturizing Lotion and mark Kiss Dry Goodbye Lip Smoother onto her lips. I evened out her complexion with mark Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup in Golden," Greenberg said.

For a natural, rosy glow she used mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Peachy, smoothed onto apples of the cheeks with a dash of mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder.

But the focus of Katrina's look was definitely her eyes.

"I started with mark It Kit (available in February) in Latte and blended into her crease." Greenberg said. "I then used I-mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Corset brushed onto her lid, blending it slightly upwards into the crease and dashed below her bottom lash line."
