What girl doesn’t love high fashion? Okay, we’re sure there are some that don’t, but if we could afford it, we’d probably all be splurging on high-ticket items like Chanel and Rodarte right now. Unfortunately for most of us though, our bank accounts don’t exactly look like Dakota Fanning’s…or Taylor Swift’s either. Here are a few tips to help any girl get the high fashion designer looks she craves for SERIOUSLY less:

1. Facebook and Twitter: It may seem like a long shot, but nowadays if you follow your favorite brands on Twitter or fan them on Facebook you can score great deals. Many simply offer discount codes, while others run crazy cool contests with the chance to win thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. You’re already logged on to these social networks already, so why not?

2. Sample Sales: If you live in a major city, like New York or Los Angeles, designers often host sample sales to get rid of excess merchandise. At these, you can find markdowns up to 80, or even 90%, off designer clothes! And even if you don’t live in a major city, there are now a host of online sample sale sites (Gilt and Hautelook are two of my favorites) that cater to people just like you. High-end beauty, fashion and even home goods are all up for grabs.

3. Vintage Stores: Vintage stores are a great place to find gently used (or even new), high-end designer clothes for ridiculously cheap. In my experience, I’ve stumbled upon a brand new Elizabeth and James top for only $20 and an Alexander Wang dress for just $100! Be prepared to shop ‘til you drop though, because to get the goods, it takes a whole lot of searching.

4. Shop Around: Discover a cute top or pair of jeans you absolutely can’t live without? Shop around online to score the best deals! Oftentimes, you can find pertinent discount codes or even snag the same top for way less than it was priced at a boutique. Putting in that little extra effort can really go a long way when it comes to savings.

First Day, from the creators and executive producers of Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries, and Gossip Girl, follows a teenage girl stuck in the most embarrassing, dorkifying first day of school ever.  “Stuck” as in, she’ll have to repeat her first day again, and again until she gets it right. Will practice make perfect? Or is Cassie doomed to get called on, called out, and passed over by her hot new crush for all eternity? This could be Cassie’s worst year ever—or the most amazing time of her life. She’ll never know until she finds a way to escape her first day.

Check out the first of this 8 part web series below, starring Tracey Fairaway from Make it or Break It, and Elizabeth McLaughlin from Ugly Betty and The Clique.

reneemontgomery.jpgWe recently caught up with WNBA player Renee Montgomery as she preps for her second year as a professional basketball player to talk about sports, fashion and her Twitter obsession.

Renee spent her rookie year playing for the Minnesota Lynx and was recently traded to the Connecticut Sun. A homecoming of sorts, Renee returns to the state where she went to college and played for the 2009 Undefeated National Champion UConn Huskies basketball team.

SBT: How does it feel to return to Connecticut where you went to college?

RM: It feels good because the fans embrace me so well. Although I wasn’t born and raised in Connecticut it still feels like a home to me.

SBT: What’s the best thing about playing in the WNBA?

RM: Getting paid to do something I would do for free!

SBT: OK, let’s talk fashion. With all of your hard work, practice and travel, how hard is it to “stay fashionable” as a professional basketball player?

RM: It’s not hard at all. When I travel to different cities, I like to go shopping at their mall. I see many styles throughout the country and mix and match to make my own style.

SBT: What do you like to wear on your down time?

RM: In my down time I am always wearing sweats. No doubt about it.

SBT: What do you typically wear during your workouts?

RM: During my workouts I wear basketball shorts, a Dri-FIT top and compression shorts. If I am on the court working out, I wear basketball shoes, otherwise I wear training sneakers.

We asked Renee to choose some of her favorite Nike apparel to wear on and off the court. Here are her picks (we’re especially loving the Gladiator shoes!):

Since we’re all about celebrating “less is more”, we bring you great peek-a-boo prom dresses that are too haute to be missed. We recently caught up with the Beat Freaks, the all-female dance team from Los Angeles, California. Each of its eight members achieved individual success and decided to come together in 2003 to show the world that females can dance just as well if not better in what is perceived as a male dominated dance world. The Beat Freaks were featured on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew (Season 3) and have been featured on numerous television shows, in music videos and tours with the likes of Pink, Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus and Madonna, as well as in movies like You Got Served and Step Up 2.

We talked to the girls about what influences them, their love for fashion and their obsession with sneakers.

How much does fashion play a role in your performances?

Huge! Fashion and Dance go hand in hand. Dancing is visual and about a vibe, so the flyer you look, the flyer you feel on stage. In our performances, we like to paint a picture to be remembered and what you are wearing is a gigantic part of that.

What is the best fashion advice you ever got?

Be yourself, anything looks cool when you wear it with confidence.

How would you describe your personal style?

’80s-inspired, quirky and fun, sometimes with a side of punk.

Do you wear any of your performance clothes on the street?

Yes, the shoes. My favorite pair to dance in right now are the new Nike Delta High Lites!

Any beauty secrets you would like to share with our readers?

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!! And wear sunscreen.
