5907_hero.jpgMinx manicures have recently been spotted on everyone from Beyonce to Hayden Panettiere, but the nail appliques were only available in salons until recently. Professional Minx manicures cost around $40, but now you can purchase sets of the nail art for just $15 at Sephora. We love the tiger prints - which style would you like to try?
skin care thumb.pngEveryone has a skin care routine, but many girls make mistakes that are easily avoidable. And they’re not just the obvious ones (like drinking, smoking, or skipping sunscreen) - these three mistakes are easy to overlook.

1. Forgetting your neck and chest - there’s skin there, so why neglect it? When you wash your face and apply moisturizer, don’t forget these two areas! The skin there is often more delicate, and will show more signs of aging when you get older.

2. Not washing your make up brushes, pillow, cell phone, etc. - anything that touches your face should be clean, and that extends from your blush brush to your finger tips! Make sure to wash your pillow case often, wipe down your phone with an antibiotic wipe, and clean your brushes regularly to avoid adding acne-causing bacteria to your face. For tips on how to wash your brushes, click here.

3. Exfoliating and washing your face too often - washing your face more than twice a day or using an exfoliating product such as a mask or glycolic peel more than three times per week can actually do the opposite of what you want. When your skin is squeaky clean, oil production goes into overload to compensate, which can result in more breakouts and more visible pores.

Do you make any of these skin care mistakes? Let us know!

Chanel consistently sets the trends in nail color each season, so what’s in store for us this summer? Pretty shades of turquoise, tropical pink, and light pink. We love these candy-like colors, so we scouted out some other polishes in similar shades:

roots thumb.pngMaybe you didn’t have time for a salon appointment this month, or maybe you blew all your cash on a new pair of strappy sandals you needed for summer. But now you’re stuck with ugly, noticeable roots that are making you feel super self conscious. Don’t fret! There are really easy, inexpensive steps you can take to keep your hair looking fab between salon appointments.

1. Add volume for less noticeable roots. Use a volume-boosting mousse or hairspray, or simply flip your head upside down and blast it with hot air before heading out for the day. We suggest Ouidad PlayCurl Volumizing Foam, $23 at Sephora, or for a more budget-friendly option, Suave Professionals Volumizing Maximum Hold Finishing Hair Spray, $2.43 at Walmart.

2. Use a brightening shampoo, if your hair is blonde. The shampoo removes residue that can dull and darken hair, which will help your roots blend in better. John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Daily Shampoo and Conditioner, $6.49 each at drugstore.com, work amazingly well.

3. Glossing sprays and serums will make hair look sleekier and shinier, which will take the focus away from your growing roots and make your color look more brilliant. Try L’Oreal Vive Pro Glossy Style Smooth Gloss Serum, $4.99 at Ulta.

4. To fix small spots, use a semipermanent pen to paint a few strands, which will last until your next shampoo. Try the Oscar Blandi Pronto Colore Root Touch-Up & Highlighting Pen, $23 at Sephora. It’s available in every color from blonde to jet black.

5. Lastly, get a smarter cut next time you do head to the salon. Tell your stylist you want something textured - side bangs, layers, a messy party, etc. A looser style makes differences in your hair color less conspicuous.
