Bold prints are fun, daring, and always stylish - but they can easily go wrong. A good rule to go by is the one of proportions: if you’re thin or petite, wear small prints. If you’re tall or plus-size, wear bigger prints. Also, if you’re wearing a printed top, it’s best to go with solid pants and shoes. Here are six of our favorite geometric prints for under $250:

A printed tank with jeans and heels makes a cute “going out” outfit, and a printed skirt or dress with black tights will make you stand out at any event. While the little black dress will always be a staple, printed items are way more unique!

Leggings are already a wardrobe staple, but this fall they will make a statement with metallic hues, embellishments, cut-outs, and bright prints. Leather leggings were everywhere during fall fashion shows, and ripped and printed looks are quickly becoming a popular trend. Think you can’t pull this look off? Here are some ideas on how to rock eye-catching leggings.

Pair printed leggings with a basic, long tank or tee for an effortlessly chic look. Black, grey and white tend to work with most prints, but try and match the tank’s color to a color in the print. For example, a yellow or pink tank could also work with the Rachel Pally leggings (bottom right) because those colors appear in the print. Finish off the look with a sweater or cropped jacket and ankle boots.

Tops, from left to right: GG 750 Long Oversize Pocket Tank, $156 at La Garconne; Aerie Wrapped Racerback Tank, $24.50; Mark and Estel Skinny Long Tank, $120 at Diani Boutique.

Bottoms: Topshop Digital Roseprint Leggings, $40; Forever 21 City Knit Leggings, $9.80; Rachel Pally Cropped Banded Leggings, $92 at ShopBop.

Liquid, leather-like leggings are almost as versatile as basic black leggings. Rock them with an oversized sweater, a comfy tank, or a sparkly top for a night out. For the ultimate rocker-chic look, throw on a leather jacket over the tank. Add heels, and your ready to go.

Shredded or cut-out leggings are also extremely versatile. Wear them with a long sweater, a graphic tee, etc. Just remember that they might not be super appropriate for class.

When the sun comes out it’s time to ditch those highly structured black bags you’ve carried your books in all year and opt for bright, fun stylish handbags that are roomy enough to take you from the beach to the party.

This year, designers focused on statement embellishments such as fringe, ruffles, zippered accents and studs. Oversized bags are still hot, but teeny clutches or chain strap purses and medium-sized hobos and satchels are in style as well. Popular colors include yellow, pink, green, white and nude, but anything bright and fun is always in!

Here are some of the chicest designer summer handbags at Shop Bop right now:

Even the glamorous world of fashion has been hit hard by the recession. In a time where most people are cutting back, spending money on designer outfits just doesn’t seem reasonable. At this year’s New York Fashion Week, many designers have cut costs by hosting smaller runway shows or gallery presentations.

But more than how, designers have changed what they are showing. Their goal is to show women looks that they must have; looks that will get them reaching for their wallets. So what can you expect to be snatching up for fall? A little of this, a little of that and a whole lot of 80s…

1. Head-to-toe Black. While the future of fashion definitely looks dark, that may not be a bad thing. Sleek, modern-looking all-black ensembles have dominated the runways this week.

2. Purple and Red are breaking up the monotony by popping up occasionally, as well.

3. Leather is going to be everywhere this fall - jackets, boots, and, yes, leggings.

4. Cutouts will add sex appeal to the tougher, edgier looks you’ll be seeing.

5. Full-length, exposed zippers will also be back to make a bold statement on seemingly standard ensembles.

6. Built-Up or Padded Shoulders have been spotted quite a a few times on the runways, so get ready to raid your grandma’s closet. The big shoulder is gonna be huge (pun intended).

7. Cinched waists will be back next for fall, which is refreshing as it is the most flattering silhouette.

Other trends that will continue through fall 2009 are animal prints, volume and structure, full skirts, color blocks, and plaid. Thankfully designers have recycled some trends from ‘08, allowing all of us to keep up with fashion without overhauling our wardrobes.
