Let's agree not to take social media cues from Rihanna ladies

I love me some Rihanna. Sure, she’s got an on-again, off-again relationship with a not-so-savory fella who’s probably not up with Feminism. But who doesn’t have an ex like that in their closet? She’s human. I don’t mind that she’s a little dirty and rough around the edges because that’s real. She’s not trying to tout some faux-virginal facade that masks any sense of a true personality (ahem, Taylor Swift). She’s in her twenties and there are plenty of girls in their twenties who would consider this an average day-after-the-party pic.

But… I’d venture the majority of her Instagram followers are not mature adult women capable of making informed decisions about their digital presence. This is not a smart example to be setting for young girls. Teens are committing suicide as the result of bullying stemming from photos a lot like this. This type of photo, especially when you are not a public figure who poses scantily clad in photo shoots and performances all the time, is above all private. As in, you do not want to instagram it. I’m sure Ri-Ri’s grandma is hella cool, but would you want yours snooping around your twitter and finding this?

Think of the Grandmas.
