What girl doesn’t love high fashion? Okay, we’re sure there are some that don’t, but if we could afford it, we’d probably all be splurging on high-ticket items like Chanel and Rodarte right now. Unfortunately for most of us though, our bank accounts don’t exactly look like Dakota Fanning’s…or Taylor Swift’s either. Here are a few tips to help any girl get the high fashion designer looks she craves for SERIOUSLY less:
1. Facebook and Twitter: It may seem like a long shot, but nowadays if you follow your favorite brands on Twitter or fan them on Facebook you can score great deals. Many simply offer discount codes, while others run crazy cool contests with the chance to win thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. You’re already logged on to these social networks already, so why not?
2. Sample Sales: If you live in a major city, like New York or Los Angeles, designers often host sample sales to get rid of excess merchandise. At these, you can find markdowns up to 80, or even 90%, off designer clothes! And even if you don’t live in a major city, there are now a host of online sample sale sites (Gilt and Hautelook are two of my favorites) that cater to people just like you. High-end beauty, fashion and even home goods are all up for grabs.
3. Vintage Stores: Vintage stores are a great place to find gently used (or even new), high-end designer clothes for ridiculously cheap. In my experience, I’ve stumbled upon a brand new Elizabeth and James top for only $20 and an Alexander Wang dress for just $100! Be prepared to shop ‘til you drop though, because to get the goods, it takes a whole lot of searching.
4. Shop Around: Discover a cute top or pair of jeans you absolutely can’t live without? Shop around online to score the best deals! Oftentimes, you can find pertinent discount codes or even snag the same top for way less than it was priced at a boutique. Putting in that little extra effort can really go a long way when it comes to savings.
